Design is never linear

Textile 2023 week 49 note

There is a funny thing that happens when designing an application. It’s now three months later and then it’s turned into another animal almost altogether. This is part and parcel of the process though but it leaves a number of side effects, the biggest of which is how to organise all the work to date in another way to better reflect your new way of working as well as to how the product has evolved. We’ve recently began reevaluating our we’re organising the design and development of Studio and decided to break it up into small, mini-projects rather than milestones. This means how the design is organised needs to reflect this, which in turn means that a file is for a project and a page for an issue. This lets everyone find things easier, but also means that as the product invariably shifts again, we’ll have assets in the right places which can change easier as well. The main thing is though that we’ve been designing with components in mind and using this rudimentary design system to great affect.
